Mythicism

Mythicism is a deep seeded powerful art that uses energy of the soul to manipulate the Eight Elements. In areas outside of the Runick Star's sphere of influence, people often use the term magic, or sorcery to describe these abilities.

While no formal book knowledge is required to use Mythicism, this does not mean that anyone is instantly capable. In the history of the Runick Legends, there have been countless people who were unaware of Mythicism in any form, and many who would have been very powerful, but believed it to be a hoax, myth, a story to scare children, even an abomination to be avoided. To the opposite end, there have been some who were very capable and made use of the techniques without ever being aware of its origin, making use of it passively.

The techniques of Mythicism can be taught, though the best way to improve one's skills is to use them. Constant use of one specific skill will increase its effectiveness and reduce the amount of effort required. In the case of some more passive techniques, the learning curve is somewhat slowed, but more powerful techniques seem to progress much more rapidly. Traditionally the techniques are broken into four books. Each book is a tiered level of difficulty, offering more complex techniques along their progression.

Although some of the techniques may be stand alone techniques, a Mythic is capable of combining various techniques for different effects, but it is dangerous to combine more than four techniques at once, and doing so is likely fatal, causing the Mythic's soul to rupture and explode violently. Dying this way is permanently fatal, even to Runicks after Vedic's Gift, as the soul no longer exists to be returned to a body.

Mixing techniques between different Elements is also common, however it does require a more significant knowledge of the various techniques within a specific Element before this can be completed safely.
